1998 E320 4-Matic
Noob First Post---1998 Cellphone Delete

Hey im 19 and I just picked up my 9th car, a 98 E320 4-Matic, mint condition with 70k miles. Im interested in removing the cellphone unit below the stereo and replacing it with the storage bin that came with the '99 and up models. An ideas where I could find this part? I havent scoured junkyarddog.com yet, and figured I would check here first. Also that same wood cover will not stay closed, but I figured the assembly would come in one piece.

I would also like a service manual for my car, but apparantly they are impossible to get. How are the cheap-o eBay manuals on CD?

Also, I picked up my car for bottom dollar wholesale price from a leasing company I do business with. 10k after taxes (car is MINT) but I was wondering on everyones opinion weather I should keep this car stock, and wait a year or so, sell it for a profit and pick up an E55 for somewhere around 17k (ish), also.. were the E55's available in a manual tranny, and if so are they common? Ive had some fast cars (VW Rabbit GTI worked, 66 Mustang w/5.0 Conversion) and some slow cars (86 Cherokee 6in lift) and idk if I should invest time and effort getting my E320 the way I want it, or just going right for the E55. I love the body style vs. the newer ones, and the fact they are about 1/3rd the cost

Thanks Guys!

Cool E55

Congratulations on your Mercedes.

I can't help with your carphone issue, but I would keep your car in stock condition if I were you. I think you paid a fair price for it, but I don't think you will realize much of a profit by waiting a year and selling it with more miles on it.

Some of the owner's manuals are available on MBUSA.com - go to the owner's area and you might find yours in pdf format. I think service manuals are difficult to get, but hopefully someone else on here will have your solution.

I'd like an E55 too, and if you find a "nice" one for anything near $17,000 I'd grab it quickly. I don't think I've seen anything newer than a 1998 model for less than $30,000, regardless of miles or condition. As far as I know, any USA E55 models with a manual transmission are scarce, if they made any for export to america.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum,
M

Mercedes will sell you one on DVD for about $60

1-800-for-merc

Easy as pie.

PS: Nowhere in the world were there manual trans E55s.
