Exclamation 97,E320 Tire change ?

i have 97, E320 and the OEM tire size 215/55R16

so if i upgrade to ( 235/45R17) do i get quiet & smooth ride and good handel as my old 94,E320 195/65R15.

which one provide more air/tire between the car and the road, while the handling is not too bad.

i check this site for Tire size

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/55-16 4.7in 12.7in 25.3in 79.5in 797 0.0%
235/45-19 4.2in 13.7in 27.3in 85.8in 738 8.0%

Are you thinking of upgrading to 17"s or 19"s? You mention 17"s at the beginning of your post but then compare the 16"s to 19"s. Assuming that you want to compare the 16"s vs. 19"s, the overall ride quality will diminish. Low profile equals less sidewall and less air volume, meaning a harsher ride. But handling improves. Also keep in mind that you may have to lower the vehicle by going to 19"s so your E doesn't look like an all-wheel drive vehicle with too much fender to tire gap. Here's an example of what happens going from 16"s to 18"s...
