Embarking upon RS6 retrofit...quick question about D4S
I've been seeing the 'new' D4S, and am looking for Denso ballasts found in Lexus, since they won't trigger the "Lamp Defective" message. I stumbled upon these on eBay:

My question is, can I use these with a set of Audi RS6 projectors? Also, will I need different wiring harnesses? I may be able to take care of the retrofit, but the wiring is where I may run into problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you will never be faulted for constructing a supplemental wiring harness for use
with your retrofit HID lighting system. it's a component that will either be a
must, or a safety net. whether it's a 'must' can only be determined after
evaluating your specific application and parts.
i've not worked with D4S so report back how you fare. insofar as whether the
D4S compliant Densos will work backwards with D2S bulbs, I'd suggest posting
this over at HIDPLANET (dot com) where the gurus are....that is, unless Zam
sees this and replies. i was thinking the Densos you linked have higher output
voltage than D2S ballasts so unsure how well they work when paired with D2S
bulb. another thought would be that you just go with D4S bulbs into the RS6
projector. may have to modify the base notch...

The D4S, suprisingly, produce less light than the D2S. It also draw less power. So I would think twice about paying twice as much for less light.

When I first saw the output of bixenon (2003 CLK500), I fell in love! I knew that I wanted something similar. So, when I got the funds, I knew that I wanted this output on my W210. I do a ton of night driving, and these SE Missouri and Southern IL rural roads have too many animals and random people out. Safety is my primary concern when I considered the lights. So, bixenon or bust for me

I have the E55 bix right now but have the RS6 still sitting on the project bench
waiting for the mod. Was just about to work on them but then decided to do
the shock / spring mod instead. The high/full beam on the E55 unit is quite
pleasing. Aircraft approaching Seatac Intl Airport mistakenly divert in my
direction when I flip them on.

but if i do, I would't be able to charge folks an arm and a leg to do it. i
agree, it's long overdue so i'll try to remember to go slow and take plenty of
photos. the Depo E55 / RS6 mod is sooo easy that we really need to get this
info to folks instead of their paying for junk HID kits. ticks me off that folks
dress up fine cars with trash kits.
