Installing new brakes: Need advice

Fellow W210ers,
I just purchased the following parts to service my F&R brakes over Easter weekend.
-Axxis Deluxe Plus pads
-Brembo Cross Drilled rotors
-StopTech Stainless lines
-4 brake disc set screws
-OEM anti squeal paste
-G2 paint kit (silver)
Total parts was about $620 shipped to my house.

1. Can anyone provide me with some tips on how to prevent brake squeal?
2. Are there any other items that should be serviced in this area of the vehicle while I've got the parts off? If so, what?

O.K. I should have asked a more detailed question. Other than the stated obvious (anti squeal paste).... has anyone used shims when mounting the pads, or special rotor coatings that have worked? Thanks,

Use of the grease is enough.

I have done only one brake job on the W210 but numerous ones on the W124.

IMHO, the W210 brakes (front) is a huge improvement over the W124's although it is just a very small change. On the W210, the little metal wire springs near the center of the pad go inside the caliper piston and they stay put there. That eliminates all the relative horizontal movements between the piston and the pad (they move as one unit). However, you still need to use the paste on the top and bottom of the pads where they touch the caliper carrier.

Some pads come with shims and others do not. If your do, make sure you use the shims. If you do not, the pads will go up and down when the car hits a bump or pothole, thus generating the terrible clacking noise. That is because the ones that do come with shims are just a tad smaller than the ones that do not.

I also used the Brembo cross-drilled and Axxis Pads. On the front they are great, literally no brake dust.

Axxis pads on the rear - they were just too hard. Squeeled like a pig, I tried more paste,, and reset them twice, but it didn't matter, they just squeeled.

On the rear I switched back to OEM pads and the squeeling went away.

Hardest part is getting the original rotors off - slow and easy as the saying goes.

It is widely suggested that when you are done re-assembling all the parts and are ready to drive, go to a empty street or lot where you can incrementally accelerate and stop in a series of gradual speed increases so as to properly seat the new pads. This also reduces the liklihood of squeals later on.

I just replaced my OEM old rotors/pads with new Brembo Sport Slotted rotors & Hawks Pads - Surprisingly, the Hawks pads produce very little brake dust. My first brake job and the task was rewarding - it took us almost 5 hours - the hardest part was removing the old rotors (patience was definitely key). Attached is a few pics of my old rotors and new Brembo rotors. I want to give props to EKlasse who sent me great instructions in replacing rotors - Many thanks EKlasse.

I installed my new brakes over the weekend. It took me about 6 hours to get them in. A problem I encountered was that the seat for the set screw of my Brembo rotors was not properly milled. This didn't allow for the set screw to fit flush against the rotor. Got it fixed. I don't notice too big of a difference over my old system. It does seem like the "mush" in my pedal has diminished as I also installed the StopTech lines. Here are some pics, and one of the car after I waxed it.
