Strange Repeating Grinding Noise

I wanted to see if anybody had this strange/weird grinding noise before I take it to my local MB Dealership! It only happens when I turn on my A/C and after a good mile or two... the noise is gone. Almost as though, the A/C unit is warming up to produce ice cold AC, but, the moment I turn the A/C unit on, it's nice, cool and comfortable! Any feedback greatly appreciated!

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
And

Don't take it to the dealer ,they will Rape you.
Start the car pop the hood, keep hands and face away from belts, fans, pulleys, try to locate the sound.Might be something as simple as a fan coming on and then shutting off when temp is reached. Some electric fans come on when the a/c is turned on and shut off as needed.Locate the sound and post the results. Then we'll have you run the diagnostics and see what other issues you may have.
So 1. run from the dealer
2. locate the sound
3.get back here
4.if we can't get it fixed or solved, then you go to a good independent shop.
and someone on this forum will know of one they like ,that is unless you live in Timbuktu, and even then I think we have a member that lives there!
