Tire size
Can anyone tell me if I can change from a 215/55/16 to a 205/55/16 tire on my E320 wagon 4Matic. I'm concerned that going to a smaller tire might be dangerous. They are snows and I would like to use them for 2 months during our Vancouver (Canada) winter. I also wonder if it might create some problem with my traction control.

are good to go,10mm side wall to side wall thinner nearly the same load rating,for two months a year is okay,are they snow tires with studs?If so they are going to be loud.
it will be about 1/2 inch shorter in diameter so you will have a few more revs per mile

A good tip esp with the temps starting to dip into the low 40's F soon
up north in VanCan
Keeping your tires set at the manufacturer's recommended pressure is one of the easiest ways of saving gasoline, increasing tire treadlife, and ensuring safety. An Arizona Energy Office Report notes if your tires are inflated to 24psi, and you increase the air pressure to 32psi, your fuel mileage should increase by 3 miles per gallon (an average increase of 10%!)so check that tire pressure 10deg F drop is 1 psi drop in tire pressure.

Chiro, Ohlord already summed it up, but to add an opinion, the skinnier tread will bite a bit better in the snow. I'd mostly prefer Mich Alpins in the same size, but going narrower for the season will be alright.
