Brakes suck, argh!!

The brakes on my e420 suck so bad that I abhor hitting the brakes at all. The first inch of travel barely does any braking at all, finally an inch in it hits the brakes.

What could be the cause of this problem? My pads look good, they have some wear left.

I just replaced new rotors and pads in my car but when I am slowing down and it is the last 10mph to 0 it grinds for some annoying reason...

Is this a condition that is new to the car? My brakes suck too, compared to my BMW. When I get back in the BMW, I just about go through the windshield when I first brake!

Flush the brake fluid and bleed the brakes, visually check everything, inner and outer pads, cracks or redish/bluish hot spots on rotors to indicate sticking caliper boiling the fluid.

Grind or squeal? If you didn't clean the calipers properly and put some anti-seeze or anti-squeal paste on the mating surfaces of the caliper and pad, then you'll get a squeal. If it's more of a tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick sound, then the pad may be sticking a bit, or you may have a spring/hardware piece out of place. You can only take it apart and put back together to know. Should only take about an hour to check both sides.
