Ticking Noise
97 E420, 115,500
2 days ago i decided to change my oil after about 3200 miles, because of a ticking noise i thought maybe there were sticky lifters or the like causing this noise, i put in some seafoam cleaner before the change, idled it and changed the oil and filter, although it doesnt seem as loud as it was before the change, it is still there, any clue as to what this could be?
i know somebody recently posted this, but it seems its coming from under the car rather than above the car when I open the hood I can hear it, but when I go under the front end of the car it gets louder

it might be some pipe or soemthing. i had the same exact sound, and ppl told me it was valve lifters, and everyone was saying it would be super expensive to fix, then at the stealership, they found it was a pipe and fixed it for a cheap amount as part of a tune up. ****in hatted that sound

Maybe a belt driven accessory device???
Drop tension from the belt and run a COLD engine for 30 secs MAX and see if noise is gone. If so, spin each accessory by hand and look/listen/feel for bad bearings.

Listen
to your head
Get a mechanics stethoscope or put the shaft of a long screw driver and put your ear on the handle and put the end of the screw driver on your valve cover if that is the ticking sound it is a common issue with the m119 engine and here is the diy.several members have done it that had no prior diy experience so you can also

video of sound
Click the Link to the video and then there should be a download button on the upper left hand of the page, just dl the video and listen, the video was taken from a low quality digital camera, the ticking and hum of the engine appear to be alot louder than it really is than in person
