I called the dealer here in Nor Cal and they don't sell just the mirror.
It would be great if you can find the part number for us.
thanks.

Mother's clay didn't do anything to the gel streaks. I guess it's time to move on to bigger guns.

Yes, Buy a replacement self dimming glass. It will be clear silver, but be setting down when you price one. Aftermarket will be cheaper, but not cheap.

Be cautious, many of the aftermarket self dimming mirrors don't self dim or don't dim at all---look to one of national scrappers like LQK for a complete mirror assy.

In any event be cautious of the mirror spring--the mounting tang(pot metal) is very prone to brake with age and then it's a new assy anyway!!

PS: Forget about all the rube goldberg kiddy benz coat hanger HS tricks!!

mirror changed color to tint

I hope it does not require the replacement of the entire side mirror assembly..other wise I can just live with the color change as long as it does not get worst and turn totally black on me.
My driver mirror has changed color to a tint color C- class (model of car c230). Is their a way to change color back to it's original color without replacing the mirror? HELP

the discoloration is the result of the auto dimming "electro chromatic" feature.
it is a gel compound sandwiched between the glass plate and mirror. in time,
it decomposes and leaks. the color change is the beginning of the death spiral
of this feature.

you can buy a replacement mirror and simply tape it on top of the existing mirror.
it may look half assed upon close examination. replacing the mirror by removing
the old mirror only takes minutes (on the 210)...less than 5 mins on my 1999

Does it matter...it's the same problem and the same answer.

My BMW , here to help you the best

May I know which car your using. ... actually this happens when you overuse your electronic side mirror adjusting or even if your side mirror have heat adjusters .. this doesn't affect the whole mirror .. it's only on its bottom surface expect the edge ... it's takes to remove the brown coat to be cleared for 5min in BMW -all models ... if any question I will be happy to solve it

Put your glasses on this a four year old post and for all we know the poster has immigrated to Syria or Iran. Furthermore the MB system is very different than your so called BMW fix---I'd read up more on MB products.
