Buying an E-430 Sport
I'm thinking of buying a 1999 or 2000 E-430 Sport.
I know the 2000 has been refreshed over the 1999. J.D. Power claims that the 2000 has poorer reliability than the 1999. Is this true?
What price should I be paying for a 1999 E-430 Sport (private party)?
1) xenon
2) heated seats
3) CD changer
4) moonroof
5) 36,000 miles
6) excellent condition
7) factory warranty until 50,000 miles
Any other advice is much appreciated.

Noted that you have a 95 E320. I moved up from a 95 E420 to a 2000 E430 Sport. Bought mine new, went to Germany and picked it up, so not much of a help with used. I would say visit www.kbb.com and get some pricing. There are occasionally nice ones on ebay also.
If I were you, I would hold out for the 2000. Updated body, engine, transmission, interior, etc. The only real problem I have had is the audio system. I am not especially crazy about the Bose Premium system, but you don't have much choice. My entire system has been replaced once under warranty and some module that went out was replaced another time.
Everything else is great. I currently have about 26,000 miles on mine. She gets around 21-25 mpg and will fly. I ordered mine without a sunroof, not sure if there are problems there or not. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
