is antenna on 1996 e320 suppose to extend?
I just notice that my radio antenna doesn't extend when I turn on radio. I dont hear any motor noise so dont know if this is normal or not.

That antenna is for the mb cellphone.

The 1996 E320 is the only W210 model with an motorized telescoping antenna on the driver side rear.

1996 E320
The 1996 E320 also has the radio antenna incorporated in the rear window. By the way, I think the reception is crappy. The retractable antenna is for the cell phone.

96 E 320 and 87 560 SL
I have a 96 e320 and the owners manual states that the retractable antenna is for the cell phone only. it will extend when the phone is in use. The radio antenna is incorperated into the body of the car.
