Beware - No sensor on rear brake pads

I thought there was a sensor on the rear brakes like the front but there isn't. My E320 uses the single pin version of rear brake pads. My mechanic thought so too and didn't bother to check on inspections. Luckilly he was changing a tire for me this week and noticed the rear pads were almost totally done. He picked up pads for me at the local Mercedes dealer and did the job before I totally trashed my rotors.

i did all four of my brakes and had to change my rotors last friday. i bought some ceramic pads and did know that my new pads already came with sensors after i had already bought four. i ended up with five extra sensors in the end learning that the rears didnt need them. the rear pads i bought only came with one sensor, it ok cuz i didnt need it. im just glad my brakes are back to normal.

This was only the second brake job in 110k miles. Still have the original rotors. My mechanic said they were fine. Brakes feel perfect

You might want to discuss this further with your mechanic.

On every Schedule A service the pads and discs are supposed to be inspected.

On every Schedule B service the pads and discs are supposed to be measured for thickness and the results recorded.

Good luck.
