Grill Painting Question

I'm considering painting my front grill black.
Has anyone done this and how was the results?
Any issues with chipping?

I'm considering just spray painting it and then shooting many coats of Lacquer to seal and harder the surface. (Not sure if this is the right procedure for this type of application.)

Haven't done it, but since the grill is chrome plated, painting probably won't give very good results, even with a self etching primer. it will likely have adhesion issues and be pretty easy to chip. Better choice might be to powder coat, but I don't know how well powder coat adheres to chrome and if the plastic will take the cure temps for powder coating.
