Ok so I did a search and couldn't find anyone with this issue. When you have the key in hand, unlock works fine (with key fob) when you press lock nothing happens. If you take the blade key out of the fob and try and lock the doors this way, just the drivers door will lock. Now even weirder- if you are in the car and its running, the dash lock switch works perfect for both lock and unlock on ALL doors...... Any ideas?

Probably a sync issue. Try disconnecting the battery for about 10 mins, reconnect, put key in car to sync key, take out and try the locks again. Of course, you'll have to resync the windows/seats/sunroof/steering sensor also.

Does everything else work correctly, esp the seats and sunroof? Usually, more than one item goes out of sync. My strangest one was that only my rear windows worked, and the key fob only started the car. Last week, after I replaced my 12 yr old original battery, I had the passenger seat and window stop working. You just never know what it will be day to day with these things!

Nope. Everything else works great! No errors at all not even a bulb out.....

The red light blinks when you press unlock and the trunk button but nothing happens when you press lock....

Do the windows and sunroof open when you hold the unlock button and then close when you hold the lock button?

Every thing opens with button. Nothing closes. Its gotta be the button right? Is there a way to clean these keys?

When I take the blade and the batteries out of the key I can hear something rattle inside when I shake it.

Start with battery disconnect and resync. Sounds crazy, but that's a quirk of these cars. Let us know what happens.

it is probably defective key try spare or replace key first, its cheaper $228, then it might be central locking pump.

Could it still be the central locking pump if all the doors lock just fine when the car is running?

when the car is running, what happens when you manipulate the Smartkey buttons?

call 1800 for-mercedes let them walk you through resync of key, then if no change try replacing key, central locking will work but apparently not responsing to locking function from key, it works with buttons right?, probably key hope this helps,don't sweat it something minor.

OK its the key. Not that big of deal. I think the Guy I bought it from still has the spare. He said he has it just couldn't remember where he out it. I guess ill go help them old man remember.
