trimming bump stops after lowering?
 

Hi Folks,

After lowering the car, I kept wondering whether or not I needed to trim or cut down the bumpstops that sit on the shock shafts.

The bumpstops looked really big and seemed like it would limit the travel of the shocks?

Any one modify their bumpstops after putting in springs and the appropriate shocks? (ie. H&R, Eibach springs and Bilstein, Eibach, Koni shocks?)

Lowering your car with springs only and not replacing the shocks is what limits the travel of your stock shocks. I lowered my E with H&R Sport Springs and Bilstein Sport shocks and have the best ride I could ever ask for. The car handles like it's on rails and I never touched the bump-stops!

Yeah, I lowered with the Eibach pro-system; shocks and springs.

Just checking to see if others have left their bumpstops alone.

do not trim your jounce bumpers. They are that size for a reason. If you trim them the shock may then bottom out. (That's a bad thing) If you lowered your car enough that you think you need to trim the bumpers, then the proper solution would be to get new shocks with shorter shafts.

I will leave them alone then. The eibach shocks are significantly shorter than the factor shocks and seem well matched to the eibach pro-kit springs.
