alternator/battery visit workshop message
Driving home last night, lights on, A/C, received this message in the cluster LCD. Pretty sure the battery is somewhat new (1 year old) so can I assume its the voltage regulator? I did check to see that the poly belt is still on all the pulleys.

OK, to test it, do they hook up their machine directly to the battery underneath the rear seat (wagon) or are there points under the hood? Reason I ask is I have to remove the baby car seat if they need access to under seat.

Not sure here but it seems like putting their tester directly on the battery terminals would be more accurate than using the jumper posts. You can also do it yourself using the CC diagnostic feature. Sorry but I don't have ready access to the steps required but it's a piece of cake.

UPDATE:
Well, went ahead and replaced the alternator with my dad's help. Turns out there are two, Valeo and Bosch units. I had the Valeo which turns out Napa wanted to r$#pe me on price with $299!!!! Went to Autozone paid less than half that and am happy to report it solved the problem.
So for others with this problem if you DIY the replacement, make sure you get the right alternator!
