Can I Use Gearbox Like A Steptronic?

I notice my 99 E320 has the option for 4,3,2,1 under D. This keeps the gear but is it ok to use this the same way I would use the steptronic in my CLS? Or if I hit the rev limiter in this mode is it bad because it won't automatically shift up?

Yes you

can shift manual. If you fail to kick it up a gear the rev lim will kick in, the power will fall on its face and you will lose any advantage gained.
So practice makes perfect.

Thanks, but shifting up a gear doesn't really shirt in this mode right, it just lets that upper gear be available to shift into.
