A/C evaporator smell, clogged drain line

Just last week my heat/ac started blowing foul smelling air. In the past week the smell has gotten worse. I turned on the a/c for a while and no water is draining out so I assume that my drain line is clogged. This smell is making me furious because its not the first time I have had this happen. I had a jeep once with a bad evaporator and after numerous trips to the shop and over a grand spent I ended up with a ratting dash and flickering instrument lights. This smell in my Mercedes is the exact same smell as I once had in my jeep. I am wondering where my drain line is on this car so I can attempt to unclog it. After that, could some of those disenfectant sprays work since the problem is new? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. I would honestly rather my car get stolen and never recovered than have do deal with another evaporator replacement. Thanks in advance.

You might want to begin by replacing your dust/pollen filters and your act. carbon filters if you haven't done so recently.

If you want your car stolen you need to at least add your location to your profile.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but my drains are clogged too and summer is fast approaching. How did you manage to clean them out? I want to blow compressed air from inside the car through the lines but not sure how to get to the drains/bottom of evap. Don't want to try to clear it from the bottom and risk pushing crud back into the evaporator, thanks.

To do it your way will require removing the dash---and yes typically the job is done from below but not with a compressor!!
