Second try it starts (usually),sun roof bellows
My 98 E430 has had a starting problem for over a year and no one knows how to fix it. The usual pattern is that it will not start on the first try. Turn it off and wait a few seconds and it will start. I have checked and there isn't any spark to the spark plugs on the first try. The local dealer and the local independent German make car garage have both worked on it. the key assembly has been changed. Anyone encounter this before? One theory by a mechanic is that since we have changed out the OEM radio that this is the problem. unfortunately i sold the radio so i can't try that. CPS has been changed and the wiring /connectors checked ok.
The other problem is i cannot find the part numbers for the left and right bellows (correct name ?) for the sunroof. These are the rubber screens that pop up when you tilt the bsck up. The dealer parts person cannot find it either.
