MB Star Classic Service Manual DVD
A few years ago MB produced this DVD which contains all of the maintenance and repair procedures for all W210s. It also includes TSBs, a Star parts finder, PDFs of all owners manuals, wiring diagrams, etc.
Recently, the MB Classic Center in Irvine, CA obtained some (left-overs?). The price is $25 + shipping & tax?. Originally, the price was $150 and that was a good deal.

Contact Tom or Woody
Note: Windows only. Some people have had problems with some Windows OSs but my old copy (+3 years) works fine on Windows 7.

richard,
there was a post earlier (here as well as BenzWorld) about this supply, either
as NOS or as recent re-publishings. however, it was also reported that they
were found to be inoperative upon receipt so MBUSA Classic (et al) were
scrambling around trying to resolve this glitch.
i just wanted folks to be aware that what had looked very promising, as well
as an amazing deal, so far hasn't materialized just yet.

Well, thanks for the HU raymond. I placed an order for one this morning as a backup. I will test and examine it against my original. When I talked to Tom at MB CC he didn't mention any issues.

After receiving the new DVD from MB Classic Center (Irvine) I tested it against my original DVD. In short it does not work. I tested against two computers -- one running W7 and one running dual boot W7 or W2K SP4.
My original DVD works fine in all three environments. The new DVD did not work in any even though W2K SP4 is a listed as a supported OS on the DVD! All attempts resulted in the follow error - "Original disc could not be found or authenticated."
A note on a piece of plain paper was included in the shipment as follows -
"Insert dvd into dvd-rom drive
Open file manager
Click on dvd-rom drive icon
Double click on webtm folder (Note actual folder name is webetm)
Double click on strt.html icon (Note actual file name is start.html)
You might have to install Autodesk Whip plug-in, click on Free Whip It,
Get Whip link"
FYI, Whip4 is in the utils directory on the DVD.

"...original disk...." verbiage is frequently seen when the copy protection feature
kicks in. in other words, i'm thinking they were unable to successfully duplicate
a master of the original version of the DVD including the built-in copy protection
feature.
to test this, anecdotally, i tried numerous methods (and software) used to bypass
copy protection and haven't been able to do this for this DVD. i'm seeing the
exact same message.
nah....couldn't be that someone at Classic thought it would be a real quick
buck getter and trying this duplication on their own ?? otherwise, why not
just republish using the original master and duplication technique and do it
properly? instead of the MBUSA price of $100, it's now down to $10. it's
not common for anybody in the corporate world to knock 90% off the price.
ehh.....i'm just the cynical, conspiracy kinda guy perhaps it's just that
the new group attempting the copying isn't that good

I compared some of the files (root + 2 dirs) on the new DVD with those on my HD and everything matches exactly.
Not sure what I'll do yet. Returning it will cost me $10 to get $25 back.

possible
good luck with your search. it took me a year and I ended up paying about $95.
most search engines lead to dead ends or out of stock. the one i scored came
from a forum member selling his used DVD
wow, whomever scored this one was very fortunate

Out Of Control!!
Just amazing, do you have any idea how much stuff you can print when you subscribe to MB WIS for 24 hours---that costs 18 bucks therefore for 95 bucks you will have five days or 120 hours of print---you don't have enouh paper to print all that---mypoint screw the CD and you will learn more about your car with WIS

As far as I can tell, the procedures on the DVD and the procedures online at WIS are the same. The DVD is just a subset of the procedures for a W210 models.
