W210 Headlight Downgrade
Bought a wrecked 1998 W210 with the Xenon headlight option. The headlight housings are beyond repair and I would like to downgrade to the DEPO housings that are available on eBay. Would leaving the extra connectors for the auto-levelling option disconnected but protected cause any harm or messages? I bought it wrecked due to my budget and therefore cannot afford used OEM Xenon housings either.

Man, buy the depo's install all the "old" OEM wiring harness (from the inside of the old headlights) inside the new depo's and install the electric height regulator motors (like the OEM comes). this way you can conserve the Self Leveling Headlight option in your car :) i do that on mines. If you want a real lovely light output, open-it and install some E55 (W211) bi-xenon projectors with OEM xenon bulbs, trust me you would see the night comes day :D

PD: you no got any fault in the instrumment cluster message if you leave disconnected the auto-leveling connectors. But is real good and easy to stay it functional :)

where the OEM bulbs/ballasts damaged?

Follow up
No, the bulbs and ballasts are in good working order. Unfortunately, when I gutted the housings, the wire insulation crumbled so I tossed the housings with the wiring for the levelers etc. still in them.

If your selling your headlamp washers..
If you happen to be selling the headlamp washer nozzles I might be interested.. The tip blew off of one on my RH side and do not want to replace the whole thing if I can avoid it.
Thanks and good luck with your project. |
OT but do you still have the lens on the driver side? Doesnt matter if faded. Id gladly buy it off you.
