my dad bought a 1997 w210 E230

he spent already like 2300USD on repairs so far and modding the car

to be honest i think it's a bad buy , but hey it's his dream car and my opinion doesn't matter

he got a new paint 550USD
repairing the brake lights 2x 200USD
changed the fog light 125 USD
gearbox 920 USD
wheels 460 USD

well my dad didn't know it will cost soooo much to own a 2nd hand mercedes but there are still some issues with it

one of the passenger door don't work and the blaupunkt radio have 2 audio output at the back that aren't working and the audio system can't remember any station and the interface is unreadable

so ... how much will it cost my dad to repair those two? these 2 problems came like a week ago so my dad ...and hell is it always THIS EXPENSIVE TO OWN A SECOND HAND MERC??

Looks to me that your dad didn't do the basic vehicle inspection prior to puchasing. To be honest he will lose money in the end if he does decide to sell.

yeah might be ...still he ain't young anymore and i don't think he'll sell it since it might be his last car

This sounds like the Slim and Sham show---Slim asks Sham to find a solution to Slim's problem. Then when Slim doesn't like Shams answer, Slim asks Sham again the same question, but when Sham finds another answer Slim still does not like the answer!!

I think that we should hear from Slim directly as Sham isn't asking the correct question to get a answer for Slim!!----what does Slim think??

Yes it is expensive to own an old Mercedes, but boy are they nice to drive compared to the reliable cars. The original radio was either an alpine or an optional Bose system so it sounds like yours is after market. Maybe your problem is the wiring behind the radio.
