Exhaust tips,or new muffler?
Folks of the forum,,I want to upgrade the look of the rear on the ride and I realize that chrome tips would be the cheap alternative to an exhaust(muffler)switch.
Anyone know where to get the tips for an 02 E and what would the difference in HP be,same,less,etc? Dont want to do any trimming.
Or,an affordable muffler with the tips that would not require any mods?
All expertise appreciated guys

There are a few sport mufflers for W210, but none offer any performance gains. The AMG and Remus are reported to be the mildest sounding. The best quality may be the Supersprint.

There are really no 'tips' on the market for the W210. The OEM muffler curves and points toward the ground.

Ok Kev,let me ask this,you mention AMG and Remus being the mildest sounding and that would be good.I would be willing to go with either,but they cost 6-7 hundred bucks. Maybe you know a better place where they dont want a ********?Man its a muffler!!

If you find an AMG muffler for $700, buy it quick. That muffler retails for $989. It was $1018 when I got one for my 98 E430 in 1999.

Right about now Whitey is acting as my agent with a fella for a 3 month old Remus for 350. God bless that Whitey.
In your opinion Kev,does Remus and AMG compare well for sound and quality,and did you have to trim your AMG one to fit it.?

For mounting the AMG it may be necessary to make a small cut-out in the lower valance. However, I have seen some that did not need a cut-out. It depends on if the tips hit or not.

Well Kev,Im not a big fan of cutting the apron,and I guess I'll have to speak to which ever tuner I buy the muffler from to assure no cuts. AMG is so expensive,Remus has a good rep and is cheaper.BTW,your E55 is real nice man. Did you add those handles yet?

I traded the car and left the AMG muffler on it.

I can make out the cutout,very subtle.Let me ask you,did the car sound like it was still a luxury car? Im not lookin for loudness,just a little different look,maybe a bit more throat.Also did you notice any performance difference?

E55 Exhaust look
At first I just went with the new E55 style exhaust with a cut out in the stock bumper. I later went with an E55 rear bumper to match the exhaust. It makes a much better sound without being to loud. Feels faster too.

I got a good deal from a dealer that was getting out of the import business. My exhaust is made by FOX. It is most like Sebring or Remus. The tubes are more round and the sound is more throughty than AMG. They fit well under the AMG bumper because it uses the factory hangers.
Here is a shot with my original bumper with a cut-out in the lower skirt.

IMHO, you should forget about the calipers and chrome boot handle for now and save the $$$ for lowering for more of an impact and better performance.....

I was wondering when you were gonna get around to encouraging a lower ride. And as always I value your advice cause we jive on several ideas.But here is where we differ laddy.Luckily,tho,Whitey I was ready. You see here in NYC,the only people doing all that ground effect ****,are the hooligans

Ive decided to go with a Remus,from bergwerks.Theres a 66% chance I wont have to cut the apron.549$.Squared off round tips,slanted down from the top.
Ive been told they are close to AMG in tone.
