hi guys. Recently I changed the head gaskets, timing chain and guides and the tensioner on my 1999 e240 merc. The car started with a fast an slightly rough idle. when I depress the accelerator, even ever so slightly, the engine jumps from around 1200 to over 2000 revs and stays there. On switch OFF an then ON, the car Idles around 1200. My question is this. What is responsible for idle control on this model and could a simple vacuum leak be the culprit.

The ECU has the idle control, however to do so it receives sensor data from numerous engine elements-----you need to spend the 18 bucks for a 24hr subscription to Startek WIS---put your VIN in at look at the plethora of mixture information on your car!!

Although you will not like my reply, I typically do not do my childrens homework. They learn much more my doing their homework by themselves, therefore you develope and post your list and I will add where ever I can!

PS I have made a huge assumption that you have a lawn mower\snow blower and have an understanding of how they work!!
