I prefer the W to S in congested city driving...less hunting for the correct gear. Any harm in keeping it in the 'W' or Winter mode all of the time?

No harm, tranny just starts out in 2nd and it feels more comfortable.

I keep mine in W mode for city driving and traffic jams. Much easier since first gear is so short. However, are you finding that your trans isn't shifting at the right times or is hesitating due to slow acceleration?
I'm asking because I noticed delayed engagement of my transmission into first gear. And, a slight hesitation or sometimes surges in shifts from first to second.
What I found is that the pressure control valve spring in the valve body can get damaged or shorten over time. There is a company that makes parts specific for the 722.6 trans to address these kinds of issues. I'm getting a new spring installed today and this should fix the hesitation issue.

Just thought I would pass along.

I haven't noticed any such symptoms in my transmission. It's smooth as silk shifting up & down the gears. I just prefer the gearing and performance in 'W' mode. And most of my driving is in the city. Because 1st gear is skipped altogether, I would think there's less stress and wear & tear on the transmission. I will, however, be alert for any changes in its behavior. Thank you for the tip!
