'97 E300: OK to run tranny in 'W' mode all the time?
I'm asking because I noticed delayed engagement of my transmission into first gear. And, a slight hesitation or sometimes surges in shifts from first to second.
What I found is that the pressure control valve spring in the valve body can get damaged or shorten over time. There is a company that makes parts specific for the 722.6 trans to address these kinds of issues. I'm getting a new spring installed today and this should fix the hesitation issue.

Just thought I would pass along.
