Help with Cat Rattle!
So a couple weeks ago, my rear cats started rattling. I took the car to the local exhaust shop and their diagnosis was that the rear cats where rattling. His option was a whole new mercedes exhaust. I said okay and left.
My front cats are making no noise and no performance issues. My rear cats are rattling and according to him a piece is in my resonator and exhaust. I doubt this as I didn't hear anything at all.
I would love advice on my best course of action. I thought about completely redoing the exhaust now that it's at 130k. But really I can't swing that for a while.
Should I delete and x pipe the cats? I'd prefer to not sound loud/screw with back pressure.

Why not try another exhaust shop that is willing to weld in some aftermarket rear cats? If they independently mention pieces being stuck in the resonator and muffler then maybe there is some truth to what the first shop is saying but when my cats went out the resonator was fine.

yea id check other shops, in most cases you can just cut and weld another cat on, I doubt any substrate got trapped in the rest of the exhaust unless a giant chunk broke off, theyre usually just small pieces

If you're concerned about legality, you'll have to replace the cats of course. But I would just have new cats welded in rather than springing for an entire new exhaust, provided the pipe is still in good shape.

Yeah when he hit the resonator and muffler I heard the metallic of his hammer not pieces. Now to just find a good custom exhaust place in Rochester. I had message ohLord and he mentioned mangaflow 53005 to replace them. Hopefully I'll find a place that won't give much trouble. Thanks everybody!
