New ball joint not the same as old ball joint?
Hello all,
I'm having an issue replacing the lower ball joint on the drivers side of my '99 e320.
Where there is a pin on the new ball joint, there is a hole on the old one. The pin is located on the vehicle instead. See pictures below. The pictures don't show it but there is a clear hole instead of the pin.
Either the replacement part is not the same as the old part (searched the web like crazy and cannot find one like the old one) or the pin on the ball joint has seized up to the attachment point and has broken off. However, it really doesn't look like it was broken from the old ball joint.
Any advice would help.
Thanks,
Jordan

Remover the old pin from the car/axle and install the new ball joint with the new pin its easy.
Just the old ball joint missing the pin cause they got glued to the cars part, but you can remover it and install the new ball joint complete with the new pin
Other words: remover the old pin from the car and voila

I'm going just keep spraying WD40 on it for a while and see it that does the trick to get it loose. Other than that and hitting it with a hammer, pulling it out with lock pliers let me know if you have any advice.
My next step would be a blow torch if I had one with me. Unfortunately I do not.
Thanks

How about this, I will remove the pin on new parts(if you could removed this pin) and put back on to old pin( if old pin is good condition). or last way is you have to fight to remove the old pin on arm without heat. Good luck. 003stars

I ended up getting a propane torch. 60 seconds on, 5 minutes off, 60 seconds on, 5 minutes off, and then tons of WD40 and it came out.
