okay, whats the deal with the w210 projectors??

i've been told that 00+ would fit pre 00 models and some say no????????tuningzubehor said96-2002 would fit, others say no? i'm lost can you guys clear this up for me. i need a set asap so i need to know...

carlsson9 01-11-2004 07:26 PM

I've been looking at the threads where you guys were talking about the projectors. Where are they actually made? The guy I deal with here in malaysia recently went to a tuners convention in germany, and told me that the projectors are made into sets for pre 99 and post 00+. So i guess it depends on what and where the projectors are from.

Btw, how much are you guys getting for them? I've still to get a price for the ones from germany, but will let you all know

Alex, I met up with Richard on Sat. but he had his ML with him unfortunately. I will see if we can hook up this week again and take pics. of his ride for you. He told me that he was working on getting you the info. on his lights.

i got a rough quote for the lights here in KL..RM 2000 or so..
that works out to be about US 560 - US 600. is that considered pricey?

for myself, I think it's pretty reasonable. However, the guy i got the quote from wants to ensure that they're made in germany and not in taiwan...

I think the lights themselves go for under $400 bucks so yeah, that is a bit pricey. We must also consider the freight to get them over hear in a reasonable amount of time.

That price in Asia sounds like the Taiwanese ones and it'll be a mother of a job to install on a pre-99, tho' possible...so I heard.

Has anyone actually bought the in-pro's for $400 or so from Steve yet? I also heard they may still be made in Taiwan eventho' they're a German brand - I guess quality is more assured tho.

...still have these 3 useless sets lying around (99+) of which people asked me to get them at first...

And as far as the price goes...be aware that the lights are deliverd by In Pro without a sungle bulb and that the USD is worth less then 80 eurocents at this moment...

greetingz,

Are u implying a price increase.......:D I think its fair enough, everyone else marks their prices to market even though they may not have paid at the current rates or have hedged their exposure - never been able to rationalize this except maybe for "commercial reasons";)

Whitey 01-12-2004 09:03 PM

Steve, are they as difficult to install as people make it out to be? I really want to get them off you when I come to NL but worried that the local shops will cost me my mother to install....

How much biz do you need in order for us to have the pleasure of your presence here in HK? So far I know of genuine needs for W210 bling bling mirrors and lights (front and rear) and may be a set of CLK Bi-xenons (and maybe some other CLK stuff if you have them). I know, still not worth the airfare but if I have an idea, I can try solicit enough demand......

carlsson9 01-12-2004 10:39 PM

yeah, i was told that inpro was going to taiwan to make their stuff..

in the end, although it may look sweet, but its still a taiwan product. Most of the taiwan stuffs like the blinker side mirrors and rear lights were pretty crappy..in the end, you could water in the lamps that could hold some gold fishes..

but my 0.02 cents worth..

Haahhahhaa! To confuse you more, I heard there are Japanese ones too but they cost even more.......:wall:

Alexbenz 01-13-2004 04:29 AM

so theres german ones, taiwan and Japanese......ahhhhhhhhhh

hey dave can you get a hold of anything over there for for the 96-99 model

since i'm not doing to conversion to the new body i gotta stick with what i got, you know

Whitey 01-13-2004 05:32 AM

Yes, as I said before, I have seen one on a pre-99 W210 but the guy did say the adaption of the lights to the pre-00's is a mother of a job and needs to be done with some skill (however, they all say that here when its not a plug and play job - like they said my MOMO shift knob will NEVER fit my car, LOL!). But unless you know someone who knows what they're doing I wouldn't recommend it. Priced at around US$700, probably less if we could get a few (unshipped), shipping will definitely kill it - Steve is still far more competitive but he says his are not made for the pre-99:wall:

If you are game enough to try, getting them to you (eventually) would not be a prob. myself or someone I know should be coming over some time this year...If only someone could positively confirm that the supposedly 00+ can be "adapted" to the older models:bow:
