E55 AMG Wagon Exhaust choices... need help
I'm thinking of getting an E55 AMG Wagon, I want the loudest exhaust without breaking the bank, what are my choices? do I have to get the ECU re-programmed? (dont know much about ECUs and electric side of things). any help would be much appreciated

a little louder - remove resonator and add an x-pipe
even louder - remove resonator and secondary cats + add x-pipe louder still - straight pipe |

I'd be interested as well. I have a sedan but think the stock sound is a bit muffled.
Listening to the clips the straight pipe is what I want, but its hard to get a feel for the volume without seeing it in person. I do know where there is a straight piped 02 about 100 miles from me, but the dude didn't show up last time I went to look at it so I never heard it. I got my car for family duty so maybe I should just get cutouts so I have the option. |
I have a e420 I removed the cats put a x pipe in the secondary cats place and ran 2.5inch pipes to the back with a borla pro xs dual in dual out muffler the sound is good and loud when you press the throttle. Pretty quite at idle and not very noticeable in the front at highway speeds. But if you're the person who just wants it loud cut out the secondary cats and run straight pipes, that way you won't get a check engine light. My exhaust clamps after the secondary cats broke and it was really loud, annoying at highway speeds and had a tug boat sound at idle.

The way I went with my e420 would be the compromise for you. On the other hand I have a cutoff switch for my cadi with straight pipes and that makes me feel all fuzzy inside and bearable for long road trips.
