New Headlights!

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forums and new to modding cars and such. I want to replace my current stock headlights in my 1998 Mercedes E320 with some HID projector headlights. Do you guys have any suggestions on some good headlights? I have researched all over for some but then again I don't really know what I'm doing yet so I figured id come on here to get some of your guys' opinions! thanks in advance!

Welcome to MBWorld. From 1 pats fan to another lol. I get the 12 (Brady), but 81 (Hernandez)?

So for your low beams, those are H7 units so what you'll need is an H7 HID conversion kit. Now for the projector part, were you looking at doing a retrofit, or an aftermarket housing replacement (DEPO, SPYDER, etc)?

Actually I've had this username for a while on various things haha it was actually for randy moss back when he played with Brady haha but I was looking more towards an aftermarket housing replacement just so I could replace the whole thing. Would I still need a HID conversion kit if I were to get a new housing replacement?

Depends on which housing. Some housing are just the headlight housing without light bulbs and some come packaged with lights. Typically the ones that come packaged with lights just throw in cheap bulb kits to maintain margins. So your call what you'd want to do... Buy the housing without lights and we can help you with better LED/HIDs, pick up housing with lights included and be good with that, or pick up housing with lights and replace specific lights that underperform.

Okay so I was planning on getting these lights.

They say they don't come with bulbs so I would need help picking them out. I wanted HID ones that are pretty white and aren't too bluish but Does this look like a good housing?

Those look fine. H7 fitting so you'll want H7 HID kit. If you want white, you'll want to be in the 5000K range. We carry top shelf Morimoto H7 HID kits if interested. These are plug and play kits. You'll also probably want to upgrade the front city/parking light which will look dingy in comparison. That's the small bulb on the inner housing. You'll want to check with the seller if those use the same H6W mini-bayonet bulbs your current w210 uses, or more modern 194 wedge units. Either way, we can take care of you there as well.

Okay could I get some links to the kits and bulbs? And yeah I was planning on upgrading the parking lights as well cuz I want them to match the low beams but I will have to check on those and see which bulbs they use

As AZN suggested, the projectors on these units are most likely cheap units and may not have great quality and performance (and you will be on this forum again in a few months asking for advice). If you want well performing lights do a projector retrofit to either these housings or your original housings. Do it right the first time and it'll save you time, money and hassle. Good luck.

Here's our 5000K Morimoto HID Conversion kit:
http://www.aznoptics.com/index.php?m...products_id=65

Unfortunately, for 5000K, we're currently backordered, but our next freight shipment should be coming end of this week. Should wait till you get the housing squared away first anyways though.

So if I do retrofit in a new projector I would still need the conversion kit, right?

As for the parking lights they are H6W minis. What would you suggest for those so that they will look good with the low beams?

Yes, if you do a projector retrofit, you'd still need an HID conversion kit regardless. And we have matching H6W bulbs for your parking:

Yup best option will be OEM xenon conversion or OEM projector retrofit into Depo housing.

What is a good replacement for the original projectors? I heard the e55 projectors are a good replacement for a retrofit but I can't seem to find them anywhere

Our cars didnt come with projectors so i assume youre talking about replacing the depo projectors (the ebay ones) with OEM projectors. A ebay search will help.

Search other models besides W211 E55...

Personally i like the Lexus LS430 ones.

Do a search on this forum as well as benzworld. Zam used to sell the retrofit but its been a long time since hes done it.
