Removed Gauge Cluster and now what's all this about...
I removed the Gauge Cluster from my 2001 E320 to have the infamous pixel repair done and needed to move the car from the garage (with the cluster still out for repair) and then noticed the battery was almost dead. The car did start and I let it run for a few minutes in the driveway, and when I went to put it back in the garage, the battery was completely dead. I jump-started the vehicle with a portable jumper and when I put it in Drive from Park, it was a hard shift and the engine was not running as smoothly as it typically does. It was a hard shift back into Park too.
Is this something that happens because the gauge cluster is not installed? Is it freaking-out the vehicle computer or something? Vehicle was starting and running smoothly, and shifting out of and into Park smoothly before removing the cluster. Vehicle now has about 10,400 miles on it.
Thanks for any insight.

Guess I'll give this thread the last rites and post the outcome... (I remember the days when questions posted in MBWorld with get tons of replies, information, recommendations, etc. Maybe I missed the funeral precession.)
Hard battery and starting issues, along with a rough idle while the gauge cluster was out of the vehicle. Once installed back in, all those issues are gone. Can't say why it happened or even what the cause was, but all is good now.

Plenty of replies on benzworld.
The only difference I can think about is ... Plutoe is banned there.
I just research blower issue on W124.
About a dozen topics and none of them with real conclusion.
Plutoe was usually first to reply.
and often the last one.
