Serpentine belt keeps coming off
Afternoon,
I have a 97 E420 and i am on my 3 belt this week. I do not know what is going on with it. The belt when on is tight!! The tensioner is tight, the only thing I noticed is that the alternator sticks out further than everything else by half an inch, is that normal for these? I had put on 2 belts from Oriellys (a off brand) and now I have a belt from the dealer fingers crossed this one doesn't come of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

All pulleys should be aligned. If one pulley is really out of alignment by 1/2", yes, the belt will come off. If so, determine what is wrong with that particular pulley.

Double check the belt routing as well.
The white strings showing on the side indicate belt rubbing something.
Those cars also had recall on harmonic balancer, so check it for wobbling.
