window regulators?

Hello everyone. my sons R/R window regulator broke yesterday. I was able to get it up, but its definitely broke! We`ve been looking up regulators and I`ve found them priced from $18 to $75. These regulators all appear to be from the same supplier but with part#`s from various on line sellers. has anyone bought these regulators and have any input as to the quality? I have no problem spending money, but If the $75 part is the exact same thing as the $18 part then I would buy the cheaper one.

Thanks!

If quality was measured by cost, then the MB regulator would be the one to buy.
Well, the track record of OEM is poor so paying $150 for the MB label would not
be a wise choice. The vast majority of the time, it will be the rear regulator
which has failed.

I went with some Asian aftermarket part from Ebay and it has been functioning
fine for 3 years now.

There is a rectangular plastic part which fractures which then leads to the cable's
unraveling.

If this is what has failed, you can try replacing the plastic part for around $15
but there is labor involved in drilling out the rivet and retrofitting it onto your
regulator arm. Still, there is likely prospect that the metal cable has kinked
and is not salvageable.

By the time you add up the cost and labor, you may as well buy aftermarket
which seems to trend, on average, $50. You would reuse the regulator motor,
pulling it off the damaged regulator assembly and bolting it onto the replacement
arm.

I bought the cheapo china one and 2 years going strong. With cable type windows it's not worth the 5 dollars to mess around with the cable.

I agree, I`m getting the entire regulator no matter what. now I just need to order it. think i`m going with the cheaper ones.

The window slider seem to vanish from US ebay, but you can buy them for $2 in Poland for example (+ shipping).
The issue is that you can spend $2 preemptively and have the part on the shelf so when the factory slider breaks, you have it fixed within 1 hr without wait for new part to arrive.
Save environment in the process :D
