Should I consider low mileage W210? Yes, this post again.

I am considering buying a 2000 E320 (RWD) with 44,000 miles. The car looks literally new in every day nearly. The car has never been driven in winter here in Minnesota. The car is being sold by the daughter of the elderly (now deceased) woman who originally bought it. Should I be worried about the low mileage? The tires are new on the car and so is the battery. Service records are available for Service A, B at the MB dealership a few years ago. Since then car has only been driven a few thousand miles.

Sounds like a killer find. If the price is right, I would buy...although you already own a e320...are you looking at e430s as well?

Low mileage gives you low wear out on metal parts, but rubber and plastic are still 18 years old and they might be brittle, although looking good till you press them.
Check how the car was garaged those years, if you see sun damage, aka clear coat peeling or discoloration, don't pay much for it.
Think about it this way. Comparing to a car with 140,000 miles but with replaced part, with this one you can count on making 300,000 miles before mechanical problems, while on other one only 200,000 miles.
But the car with replaced part will not require massive bushings and flex disks replacement next month.

I currently drive a 2002 E320 with 192,000 miles. It is rusting, a/c compressor has failed, headliner falling, but have put a lot of new parts into it but it is wearing out and not worth continuing to fix. The 2000 E320 with 44,000 miles initially was 6,500 dollars which was way overpriced. KBB lists the car in its condition as $5,300 tops. The sellers keep dicking me around now say that someone else backed out of buying it and the ball is back in my court but now I can buy it for the price the previous buyer set which is 5,800. The previous buyer apparently can make deals but I cant. The car looks new still which is nice but as someone here mentioned I am concerned about the lack of use over a nearly 20 year period. The vehicle seemed to vibrate ever so slightly when I test drove it like the engine mounts are going bad or the rubber on them is wearing down. I feel like I'd rather drive a higher mileage car that has had components serviced/replaced than jump into a feel good buy of a low mileage car that is 17 years old and has yet to be broken in really. I was also looking at a 1998 S320 with 116,000 miles for $3,500 but I had reservations and it sold. Something seemed off. The S320 was impressive. Moreso than the W210. The car was a one owner vehicle that was being sold by the mechanic who had been servicing it for the last several years. The seller asked me how long I would be gone test driving it and I said "ten minutes" and he hurried me and told me to just take it around the block like he didn't want me driving it. He told me that the rear glass had been replaced because a baseball at a baseball game took it out. Seemed sketchy in my gut. Test drove a 2007 E350 4Matic. Interior felt weird like the windshield was right in my face just didn't really like it. The search goes on!

See below. $6500. Not bad... I shouldnt have to say the obvious stuff like, get it checked out, make sure the price is right, and request service records. Thats kind of a given...almost as much of a given as the price not being $25000. ***.

I'd go for it if you can get it for around $5k. It seems like everyone wants $3k+ for their well used and high mileage E320's here in the SF Bay Area.

I bought a W210 with around the same low mileage a few years ago, I still haven't regretted it. It's definitely a lovely car, apart from the minor corrosion issues with it and the other common stuff, it's much better then some of the other Mercedes-Benzes I've owned.

As long as it's been well maintained and looked after and if you've done a good inspection and are happy with it, it's an easy choice. But don't forget! a well looked after high mileage car is better then a neglected low mileage one.
