E240 reluctant to change gear when cold
Hi,
I just recently bought an E240 auto and it has the same issue as my first Merc (a C200 auto) had several years ago.
When I first start the car and drive off in the morning, the gearbox starts off in 1st (even though I'm in 'W' mode) and hangs onto the first few gears much longer than normal (about 2000-2500rpm) even on a light throttle.
I don't like to rev an engine when its cold (even if it is only 2500).
Is this normal behaviour?
As I said, my C200 did the same thing years ago, but I'd forgotten about it as I've been driving a couple of C220 CDI's for the last4-5 years...
