00 E320 Wagon 4matic
could this be “Limp Mode”?

I have a 2003 E320 wagon for 4matic. 98k miles.
When I turn on the car putting the car in drive, neutral or reverse I feel nothing. Usually I was under the impression when in limp mode, the car Would make a thumping sound when you put in in Drive or Reverse. I don’t feel or hear a thing.
The mechanic told me “you need a new transmission” ofcourse.
Coukd this be limp mode?
ive checked the ECU board under the ride side hood and it looks dry.

It's not limp mode.
Pull the codes. Since you have a 2003 an OBD2 scanner that reads Mercedes codes will work (2002 and earlier the TCU was not accessible by the OBD2 port, only the 38-pin connector under the hood). Check the linkage between shifter and transmission; on rare occasions it has been known to disconnect. Find and buy the ATSG book on the 722.6 transmission; it is filled with good information.
