Just bought e430 - Maintenance and things to be aware of
Hi all,
I just bought a 135k miles e430, I posted an introduction thread with a few pictures in the new members forum:
Introduction thread
As I mention there, the car has been well maintaned and it has full service history. The list of things done in the last few years include (sorry if some of the terminology is a bit off, I'm translating directly from Spanish):
- Transmission fluid and filter replaced
- Engine and transmission silent blocks replaced
- Both back suspension spheres replaced
- Coolant, suspension, steering and brake fluid changed
- Differential joint and oil changed
- Steering pins replaced
- Both transmission flex discs replaced
- Spark plugs
All of these has been done between the last 10k and 40k miles. Last oil and filter change has been done 7k miles ago, but it's the first thing I'll be doing this weekend anyway. The car runs great, but anything important you don't see in the list I should be aware of and check?

Congrats on the new car. It looks beautiful.Two weeks ago I bought 2002 E430 4Matic with 85,000 miles. It's really for my son but I have always loved Mercedes so this was my chance to pick one up inexpensively
I can't really comment on maintenance except you should probably replace the cabin air filter.
Look in my post titled 'ESP Problems' as one member provide a great list of maintenance items.
