E300 wheels
hi all new member, i have a question about some wheels that I’ve been offered for my car(98 e300d) the wheels were on a 2006 cls they are 18x8.5 with 25 offset for the front and 18x9.5 with a 28 offset in the rear. I believe they are the
AMG III. Will the wheels fit my car?

I doubt they'll fit. When I put 19's on my old W210 E55 I went with +32 F and +40 R.
I could be wrong. There are some guys on here that have experience with fitting some aggressive offsets.
edit: The E55 has different fenders than a regular E-Class and will handle a bit less offset.

I had 9" rims with ET37 on W210 and that was very good fit.
I agree with Strigoi that your fit is not likely, but true is you will never know till you try.

I, however, believe that if you maintain a front tire size which will preserve the odometer and
speedometer accuracy and rolling circumference with the rear, the front tire will scrape the
wheel arch lips. In effect, a 25mm ET will be moved outwards by just shy of .5". If you have
any thoughts of lowering the ride of the car as well, that will severely increase the odds of
metal touching tire.
The wheels will fit but should be used with hybrid bolts with 12mm diameter shank (used by
w210) and 14R ball seat (used by the CLS)

The other set would probably look cooler. Just run a skinnier tire as suggested by desired_speeds. Id go 225/245. That would give more space for lowering and camber adjustment. Despite popular belief on forums, you don't need a 265 rear tire for a E300 lol.

I got the amg wheels, I contacted Otis inc for the custom lug bolts and they suggested the M12x1.5, 26mm shank, 45.5 TL, R14 ball seat, hex 17, zinc. Is this correct?

If Otis sized up the specs for you, I'm not sure why I would disagree. They're putting themselves
and reputation on the line in suggesting the bolt size and configuration for you. It also depends
on the cross section (thickness) of the wheel right at the ball seat-to-the-hub-side and each wheel
may be different. If you have the rims, measure it. Then add another .75" or so for proper thread
engagement. You DON'T want too much thread/shank sticking out the hub side or it may impact
the parking brake or hub and preventing the wheel from turning .
example: take your existing STOCK wheel off the car. take one of the stock bolts and drop it into
wheel to view the amount sticking out the back side. that is the length you want to maintain..no more
