$484.00 for Spark Plugs?
I just picked up my 89 E320 from my independent technician and he recommended that the spark plugs be replaced as well as a trans service. The price quote for the trans service is $267.00, which seems reasonable, but when he told me the price to replace the 12 spark plugs, I was flabbergasted. Those 2 service plus the preventative service cost, (oil change, fuel filter, air filter), which totalled $430.00, would be more than the Blue Book value!
Has anyone heard of a plug change for $484.00? Are they made out of Gold?

........
I think you are talking about 1998 model?
12 plugs multiply the cost, but plugs can be bough for few bucks. Shop around. Its been long time since I had 3.2 gasser, but amazon had the best pricing at the time. Hopefully other members will come with recent recommendations.

Yes - if you have a '98 E320 - then replacement 12 OE Bosch plugs parts cost is about $75 on Amazon - yes - it is a bit of labor - and evidence by your tranny service quote - that indie is being reasonable.
Anytime you have W210 tranny service - it's prudent to spend extra $14 for MB/Mopar replacement tranny adapter plug if you "don't know" if it's been replaced before. And replacement of that tranny adapter plug during tranny service - if you supply correct genuine MB/Mopar plug - that part should be no charge.

Wrong Section
I believe I'm in the right section. An '89 E320 is a W-210. Please let me know if this is not correct, or do your homework. I haven't posted any messages last month.

Picture of car and engine would explain a lot.
I don't recall 320 with 12 plugs from 89.

My bad. It's a 1998
You have a W124, might want to do your homework. W124 was 1984-1995. Last I checked 1989 was in that range.
