The best setup

Hi all,
I am installing 19 inch monoblock aero 2 on my 97 e420 sport. The 4 rims are all 19 by 8.5 width. The 9.5 width have be discontinued apparently. Anyway, I need your opinions of the tyre sizes to buy. I want as confortable a ride as possible on 19 inch rims and I dont want them to rub. My autobody shop said to do 245 by 35 all round. I wanted to do 235 by 35 front and 255 by 30 rear. My car sits completely flat right now on their 17 inch monoblocks. Whats your take on the best set up. Thanks for your imput.

You will need to roll your fenders for the sizes you want.

Those 19" AMG Monoblocks are for the W140 S-Class and require spacers. The offset are:

19 X 8.5 et46
19 X 9.5 et46

If more comfort is desired do not go with 235/35/19 - it has less sidewall.

Wasn't some guy selling some with 10mm spacers recently? I think they were staggered not 8.5" all round tho.

Stizo, here's your chance for a 9.5" rear if they haven't been sold already (but I have a feeling his rears did not rub cuz his is an E55 with factory rolled fenders - they come with 14mm spacers!).

Thanks guys,
Hey whitey, I believe the 9.5 rear are already sold. If 235/35 is too thin, then what of 235/40 front and 245/35 rear. Will the car sit, nose down ie. lower in the front because of the bigger rear tire?

Secondly, as per the offset, they are all ET46. So 46-20mm spacers = ET26 front and 46-10mm spacers = ET 36 Rear. Is ET26 upfront close enough to the standard E55 offset of ET31 front. E55 rear is ET35.
Thanks

Don't even think about those dimensions!

I'm on 19x8.5 ET30, with 235/35 and sometimes rub when going over speed humps, in a dip or just turning too fast on full lock and my front isn't even that low! ET26 would be worst upfront and you'll probably have problems finding bolts for the 20mm spacers anyway - suggest 15mm to ET31 for a nice fender alignment and only a slight risk of rubbing like mine. 235/40x19 is fine - the overall wheel+tire diameter is only 1mm bigger than the AMG aftermarket recommendation, so your speedo reading would not be too far off.

ET36 in the rear is fine.

But 245/35 makes your rear wheel+tires' diameter 10.5mm larger than the std AMG after market recommendation, hence your speedo would be reading 1.8% slower than your actual speed i.e. at approx. 61.1mph, your speedo will be displaying 60mph (not sure what it means when your fronts are right and the rears are different). Its up to you if you wish to live with that small understatement in speed for comfort.

At 255/30, you're speedo will be 1.1% faster, displaying 60mph @ 59.3mph, wheel diameter is 6mm smaller than AMG std with less cushion, but more curb protection and better appearance - i'd say 255/30 if you're willing to put up with less comfort (bearing in mind the 19" upgrade inherently means less comfort anyway). Good luck!
