I did find them after poking around a little.
To replace the charcoal filters.
1. Remove lower plastic panel below, right behind knee bumper (the carpeted thing directly below the glove box)
2. Look up and you'll see to glow in the dark clips holding the two filters.
3. Replace the filters keeping in mind that one is marked '+' and the other is marked '-'. The '-' goes nearer the tunnel, the '+' go to the right of this.
4. Replace plastic lower cover (two screws) plus the vent thing that connects to the center tunel.
Real easy replacement after you know where to look!

Looking at my receipt the filter set is $95 bucks. The pollen filter set is 22.00.
I'm in the middle of doing a 60K service so this was one of the items.
Next up is radiator flush, fuel filter replacement, spark plugs.
Already did the brakes.,
The Bosch filters are the pollen filter sets. They're more expensive than the ones I bought at the dealer.
The charcoal filters are not available via ebay, at least from the quick check I did.

Again, this is the pollen filter, NOT the charcoal filter. Mercedesshop has these for 118+shipping. This is not 1/2 the dealer price. It's expensive no matter where you buy it from.
The good thing is the charcoal filter isn't replaced nearly as often as the pollen/dust filters!
Mercedesshop.com has had its prices go up in the last year, you are right the pollen filter is no bargain. I ordered my last pollen filter from NAPA for $20 if memory serves.
BT320: You'll know it when the charcoal filter has reached the end of its useful life; it'll stop catching the traffic smells and you'll be reminded of how much you love the deliciously clean air your MB normally provides!
