1998 e300 diesel P0200 code and switches off
I did not notice this at first but car also stumbles/skips smokes at 2K-2500 rpm, with no load, just reving up engine. A lot of smoke. With load, while driving, slight hesitation around the 2500 rpm mark. Car idles perfectly, and over 3K rpm runs great. It sounds to me like a fueling problem, like the injection pump is over fueling. I thought it was mechanical part of the injection pump, just not metering and timing the fuel correctly, until I unplugged the MAF sensor and stopped the skipping.
The guy I bought it from said he replaced the injection pump.
I am familiar with the e300’s. I have another e300, a 99 and a 99 parts car. This car is my 4th e300 w210.
Any help and ideas would be appreciated.

If you have already attend to it, than clear the code, run it for a while and see if you get any more code.
I used to be GSE mechanic and older vehicles are easier ti fix. No electronic sensor. Pretty much everything is mechanical. Later models have diagnostic port that we can't ignore. I mean we can repair everything mechanical, but if we don't clear the code and reset it, it just goes into limp mode and stuck in one gear. What I'm trying to say is, cars nowdays are different from what it used to be. Just because you repair the known problem, it won't go way until you clear the code.
BTW, GSE usually don't have the emission system due to the nature of the vehicles and it's use. It's that much simpler but we still have diagnostic port to pinpoint the problem.
