Question 1998 E320 w/ 90k miles suspension maintenance

I know I need to replace the tie rods, ball joints, and shocks.
There is a shimmy in steering at 50-60mph. And there is much body sway in turning.

What else needs to be replaced?

I see three shocks available in aftermarket for these cars. Bilstein Sports, Bilstein HD, and KYB Gas-A-just. Is there a place to get springs? All I see are aftermarket performance springs from H&R, Eibach, etc.

We are wanting to sell this car. It is in excellent condition except for the shimmy.

As the matter of fact, the only thing need to be replaced is shock. Only replace tie rods and ball joints if they crack.

I highly recommend Bilstein HD. You don't have to replace spring, they are good for life, unless you want to lower or stiffen the car significantly. Bilstein HD already make the ride stiffen quite a lot, so I'm not sure spring change is needed.

E320
Shimmy is most likely caused by worn lower control arms bushings. I have had the same problem and tried replacing everything with no luck. Once the lower control arm bushings were replaced, the shimmy went away.

I've ordered the shocks. It definitely needs them. Body roll is excessive. If the shimmy stays, I will try the control arm bushings.

Maximum Auto Parts has a control arm bushing kit (Lemforder) for 65$. Does this contain both, or do I need to order 2?

Do I need a torch or a press to get the old ones out?

Thanks for all the help!

I would always look at a bent rim possibility, dont know what kind you have but some are prone to bend faster that others.My.02$

You know, since you mention about the shocks. I thought it was just me with the car does sway sometimes. I never really clued in about the shocks. I thought shocks usually go bad when it bounce too much more than once to return normal.
