Only had car 1 week and already first problem!
What the heck is the deal? This is actually only the 4th time I've driven the car and now out of nowhere there is this embarasssing creaking coming from the brakes. Whenever the brake pedal is pushed the noise can be heard inside and outside the vehicle. It doesn't do it when the vehicle is off and I pump the brakes, only when it's running.
Anybody have any idea what this is?
Thanks
Gary

Sounds like your experiencing the SBC brake "groan".... This would be heard and sometimes felt about every third brake application usually when the car is at a stand still. Its the brake pump running to keep presure in the system. Some cars seem to be worse than others. There is a fix and it will be done for free. Complain to your dealer about the problem and ask about the SBC brake damper kit. The kit works well.
A quick search under (SBC brake) should yield some good reading.
Good luck with your new ride.

It's not the pads themselves it's more like Hell on a Harley said it's probably some sort of SBC problem. Like some kind of servo or pump. It's a creaky noise when the pedal is pushed. Actually sounds like it's coming from under the dash.

The SBC "groan" is completly normal and funtioning as designed. The pump is located under the hood so you may think its coming from the dash area. As I stated earlier, some cars are a little worse than others. My car was not that bad and really didn't bother me but after reading here in this forum about a in line damper kit I decided to have it installed (free of charge) during a regular service interval. I must say it did help and I never notice it anymore since the upgrade.
Good luck and I'm sure it will work out for you.

My new E500 did the exact same thing.. creaky/squeaky noise when the brakes were applied. When I went to pick up my car, I noticed the dealer had sprayed some sort of stuff on my tires to make them shiney (man I hate that). Now that all of it has spun off onto the body (grrr) and I have driven the car 500 miles or so, the noise is totally gone. It's possible in my case they got that spray gook onto the brake mechanism somehow. Who knows. I have had the car 1 week so far.
This noise is totally different than the brake groan, which I also get sometimes sitting at a light waiting for others to move.

That's funny cuz my tires still have that shiny stuff on them from when the dealer detailed the car when I purchased it last week. Coincidence or maybe that's what's causing this squeak.
I took it out this morning and at first there wasn't any noise but after I finished breakfast and returned home it was there again. Weird!
