Window Tint - Pitfalls / Hazards?

Window Tint - Pitfalls / Hazards?
I'd like to get a 35% window tint on my 2005 E320. I have been been told that whoever does the job should also install some felt lining inside the door panel or else there is a real possibility that the tint will scratch. Is the felt install an absolute must, or will I be okay without it? The tint installers that I spoke to all shied away from taking apart the door panels to install felt, saying they rarely if ever do this anymore as it is not necessary.
Someone who has actually done this please let me know what to do. Thanks very much.

Consider Ceramic film if heat is an issue.
Find an installer who has done a lot of high end cars. You may pay a little more but you will not have regrets.

Got the Ceramic Formula One Brand- Keeps car cool and looks great- no interferance on radio. When I have the shades up and in shadows or dim light, it is a little hard to see out the back but thats what the outside mirros are for I guess.

hey neighbor,
i am in your area if you would like to check out the tint job on my car. it was done in santa clara, central expwy & bowers area> i can find receipt if needed. they did not use anything special on the doors and i have not had any problems at all.
