How much you/we spend on our cars, upgrades, detailing etc.? I have a Fidelity account that I use just for buying/selling guitar and amp gear which I don't share my fun money info with her. Heck, she doesn't even know how much I paid for my E320. Just curious. It's not that I'm hiding this from her but sometimes I just don't want to hear her thoughts on me buying another guitar or whatever.

I've got a buddy that has his Harley payment mailed to my house. Now that's fear!

She has some clue, but doesnt know everything. I just get yelled at when I get a new car. Why do you spend so much money on these cars? My response shut it and drive whats in the driveway. Of course the E55 is what she takes.

My wife doesn't work so she has a don't ask don't tell policy. I do get a load of #$%@ when I cheap out on her with anything. It always goes back to "your stupid cars". A8L on the way. I'm in troble when she finds out the lease payment is.

My wife just watched me part with $6000+ in cash to Steve (MBenzNL) and she was not all too happy about it. (ask Steve ).. But she's already over it! I told her we're going to Cabo again next month..

No wife. But if i had one and she did find out she'll go Can't even keep tabs but i think i've already shelled out close to around $30-40k just in upgrade. lol Oh well that's what happens when you get a mod virus. It's almost worst as aids. lol :p

My wife too doesn't work.. but the problem with that is, since she's not out there 40+ hours a week, she's HERE! and logs into the Bank website daily.. so I can't spend a dime with her knowledge!

The Benz is my wife's ride, and was intended to be from the git-go. She sat in on the price negotiations (such as they were) and the various paper-signings. If you're going to buy a nice car for the wife, it pays to have her along. Buying something expensive for the wife that she likes gets you a lot of attaboy credits - buying something expensive for her that she doesn't like can be he11, or at least the doghouse. That's also why the car is in wussy colors like Desert Silver/Stone instead of, say, black with black.

And no, I don't drive the 510 to work. I ride a bike to work. I have an incentive to stay in decent physical condition, if you get my drift.

she found out, and it almost landed me in divorce court 3 times. we're all in the same boat here when it comes to wives. the end of every financial discussion ends with " ....and what about that mortgage payment on wheels you have??" why can't we just be ourselves w/o any b.s.?????

Absolutely, my wife knows everything and I’ve learned to always ask for her permission. How do you think I earned the $20 weekly allowance for extravagance?

Anyway the e320 was a Valentine’s Day gift for my wife. After she expressed interest I emailed dealers nationwide to get a true picture of pricing, visited all three local dealers one of which beat the lowest S. CA quote bringing the final cost well below invoice. I surprised her on Valentine’s Day wrote a check, the rest is history. I might also add that she outright refuses to sit on any negotiations with me. Mind you, she’s always impressed with the outcome but doesn’t enjoy the process when the shtick starts flying.

BTW, the check was possible because I only spend $5 of the $20 given

I envy all of you guys with wives that like nice stuff and support your purchases. I married a woman with Walmart taste, and even if I spend a year prepping her for the idea of buying something, it always comes down to "if you want" or "we don't NEED it". If it were up to her we'd have nothing "we don't need" ... that's her entire mantra... "do we NEED it?" I mean how do you look your wife straight in the eyes and say "I need an MB" or "I need a (substitute your item)"

we balance out though.. cause I do get my way a enough of the time.

Well, I feel better now. She went nuts when I came back with mine on a golfing trip to Florida. Paying the payments out of my secret Fidelity account, all online with no paper trail or mail for her to open. Just not worth listening to the grief.

Of course my wife does not know everything. She knows who is the boss around here, I have the 2004 E500, she has just the keys to the E500. After one year, this car has only 3,900 miles on it. She has ALL my money, and she gives me $50 a week for gas, food, and entertainment. . I trained my wife right, and she knows who is the boss around here, she always let me have the final two words, "Yes dear". One time, my wife was so worried that she got on her hands and knees, and she begged me, "Please get your a** from underneath the bed"!!

Finally, my wife learned to respect me so much that she even stated that I can be the BOSS in the house, "You want to be the boss, OK. The only time you are the boss is when you are sound asleep".
