Service Campaign 2005100009 NOV05 Inspect rear SAM Control Module, replace if necessary model year 2003. A fault in the rear signal acquisition and actuation module (rear SAM) may under some circumstances cause the fuel gauge to no longer register the proper fuel level if battery is disconnected.
Effective VIN range:
211.065 (e320) = A014562 – A159997
211.070 (e500) = A042945 – A159996
211.076 (55AMG) = A136286
Now then I know the majority of dealers normally check however make sure they check for all Recall & Service Campaign bulletins applicable to your VIN!
You seem to convey that this is a suspension type noise coming from the rear however, if you’re experiencing this as an interior noise:
P-B-63.20/08 MAR06 Cracking Noise at Be-pillar in Area of the Seat Belt Height Adjuster up to MAR04 production. When driving on rough roads the expanded foam panel for sound insulation in the B-pillar may be incorrectly positioned coming in contact with the B-pillar sheet metal.
If not, suggest they inspect/replace both rear air suspension springs.
My wife's W211 E320 had the same creaking noise and after their test driver came out for a drive, they diagnosed it as a suspension problem. The OEM shocks were faulty and had to be replaced. No more creaking noise now.
