W211 Recalls!

I thought it best to list this info in one place for better referencing. I will update this thread if and when new campaigns are released (relevant to the E & CLS).

Make sure to call your dealer and ask them to check VMI to see if your vehicle is included. Have your VIN handy when you call.

Recall Bulletins

These are government mandated and are received by MBUSA from DCAG. These recalls are monitored for completion (by the dealer) and have to be completed in 2 weeks time. Recalls never expire. Customers are contacted (i.e.: letter), and vehicles are repaired as soon as possible.

These campaigns are for the most part well known therefore I decided to not list the associated VIN range or repair details. Future posts will, of course, include the VIN range and details.

MBUSA documents however, given the safety ramification, Canada should have the same. Certainly I would reference these campaigns when calling your dealer.

MBUSA pays the dealership there are absolutely NO OUT OF POCKET COSTS for any and all MBUSA recall or service campaigns!

dannieboiz 05-13-2006 03:26 AM

thanks for the info. I just need to at least know that in case they starts to charge me for parts and craps like that. Man, we got some of the worst MB dealers here in NorCal. :(

CE750 05-13-2006 07:41 PM

This is great news Dan! Do you know if there is anything "official" in writing anywhere? Like on the MBUSA site? I'd like to print it out and keep it in the car file..

Sam

SWEET they usually have a service limit of around 80k then need to be replaced

Randy B 05-19-2006 06:56 PM

Mine went at 60K, and I paid for it out of pocket. Glad that my Dealer is processing the paperwork for my refund of the money I spent.

as they should I would be pissed if I had to spend that kinda money on a brake system where a brake booster and master cylinder has been working just fine since the beginning of time

NZ Mercedes

Have just confirmed this month that any imported Mercedes vehicles (not sold NZ new) that have safety recalls will be coverd by NZ Mercedes dealers at no cost.

Lots of Japanese imports here with recalls not being even acknowledged up until now.

Guess they decided to face the problem before someone gets killed.

Better late than never.

Dan, if I didn't know better, I'd think you worked at MB or was a service advisor at a dealership! Thanks for the heads up!
