W211 Recalls!
I thought it best to list this info in one place for better referencing. I will update this thread if and when new campaigns are released (relevant to the E & CLS).
Make sure to call your dealer and ask them to check VMI to see if your vehicle is included. Have your VIN handy when you call. Recall Bulletins These are government mandated and are received by MBUSA from DCAG. These recalls are monitored for completion (by the dealer) and have to be completed in 2 weeks time. Recalls never expire. Customers are contacted (i.e.: letter), and vehicles are repaired as soon as possible. Recall Campaign 2005070007 APR06 Inspect SBC hydraulic unit, replace as directed E / SL (2004) Recall Campaign 2005110001 APR06 Installation of ground wires and bracket to SBC wiring harness E (2003-2006) / CLS (2006) / SL (2003-2005) Recall Campaign 2004050014 OCT04 Programming SBC hydraulic unit E / SL (2003-2005) Service Campaigns These are done on a voluntary basis by MBUSA, but are also monitored by the Government. Repairs are performed by dealer when vehicle is in for service work. Service Campaign 2006020008 MAR06 Inspect transmission pilot bushing at electrohydraulic unit M / SLK / C / CLK / E / CL / S / SL Service Campaign 2006010006 FEB06 Replace remote trunk closing control unit E (2003-2004) Service Campaign 2005070017 FEB06 Inspect alternator, replace regulator if necessary E / SL (2002-2005) Service Campaign 2005060008 JAN06 Programming battery control module E (2003-2006) / CLS Service Campaign 2005100009 NOV05 Inspect rear SAM control module, replace if necessary E (2003) Service Campaign 2005070004 SEPT05 Replacement of spacer rings for fuel filler door lock CLS Service Campaign 2005060011 SEPT05 Direct mail distribution of navigation DVD for COMAND SLK / E / CL / CLS / S / SL (2003-2006) Service Campaign 2003020003 JUN03 Replace left front door control module E Service Campaign 2002090005 DEC02 Flexible Service System Plus (FSS+) maintenance intervals do not correspond to MBUSA criteria, as displayed in the instrument cluster E These campaigns are for the most part well known therefore I decided to not list the associated VIN range or repair details. Future posts will, of course, include the VIN range and details. |

This is great news Dan! Do you know if there is anything "official" in writing anywhere? Like on the MBUSA site? I'd like to print it out and keep it in the car file..

SWEET they usually have a service limit of around 80k then need to be replaced |
Mine went at 60K, and I paid for it out of pocket. Glad that my Dealer is processing the paperwork for my refund of the money I spent.

as they should I would be pissed if I had to spend that kinda money on a brake system where a brake booster and master cylinder has been working just fine since the beginning of time

NZ Mercedes
Have just confirmed this month that any imported Mercedes vehicles (not sold NZ new) that have safety recalls will be coverd by NZ Mercedes dealers at no cost.
Lots of Japanese imports here with recalls not being even acknowledged up until now. Guess they decided to face the problem before someone gets killed. Better late than never. |
Thanks for the info. Good place to put it - right at the top of the forum.
I was wondering if the following DTB falls under this sticky: (coolant leaking into transmission - Valeo radiators). This was also subject of one thread somewhere in this forum.
