Was wondering how many quartz the E320 take for engine and transmission?

Anyone use over the shelf brand? What type?

If you are in the U.S., use 0W-40 Mobil 1. It can be purchased at places like Auto Zone. Use 8 quarts and no more to avoid overfilling.

Transmission fluid was supposed to last 100,000 miles but now Mercedes are saying to change it at 40,000 kilometers the first time and every 60,000 kilometers after that. I'd let the dealer do it for you.

I checked my manual on the Tahoe but didn't see them mentiong anything.

I went ahead and took a hit @ the stealer and paid $12.xx a litre for the xmission fluid. I poked around but didn't see any place to poor it in? (again I did refer to my Tahoe's manual. )

What year is your E320? Mine is a 2003 and the manual says 8.0 litres of motor oil (8.5 qts). Go with BudC's recommedation of Mobil 1 0W40 (MB spec 229.5 or use 229.51 spec oils).

What are you doing with the transmission -- it takes 14 L to do a fluid change, and we don't have dipsticks to check the ATF. MB introduced a new ATF that's backward compatible with the older "lifetime" fluids. A parts guy I buy from told me that I can use MB ATF #001989450310 which will work and mix with all previous fluids and it is cheaper as well.

appears to be the same for 03 and 04. I get 20% off and the stealer, so ended up paying $11.xx/Litre.

Did you figure out where to pour it in? On the '03 E320 you will need to remove the air box and the ATF filler tube is next to the oil dipstick tube. You will need to replace the locking pin on the filler cap because you have to break it to remove the cap. You can buy an aftermarket dipstick from places like Baum Tools and AST -- I don't remember the cost.
